Aspen Stairs
Design and build of a spiral staircase in a hotel upgrade in Central Otago.
During the upgrade of a hotel in central Otago, we were lucky enough to be asked to design and build a spiral staircase for public access from the main foyer in conjunction with the architect.

We worked closely with the builder around detailing and design to ensure the transition between wood and steel was seamless. Once the design was completed we were able to supply our shop drawings to the client for comment and approval.
From here we created flat patterns for processing though our CNC laser cutter, and used some clever design ideas to assist us in the fabrication process.

The manufacture was difficult for this one as the spine of the staircase was essentially a deformed rectangular hollow section running from the floor to the landing in a helical shape.

The stair components and balustrades were constructed in sections, powder coated and shipped to site for installation. We are very happy with the finished product, as was the client.
